Question:
If my teacher compiled multiple primary, unpublished documents on one file, do I cite each work individually or as a whole?

Answer:

You will want to cite each individual source individually, but also give credit to the fact that you got it from a course packet. Your footnote should look like the following:

Author, Primary Source in Class Material. Teacher's Name. Term Year.

  • Example: Michael Stewart, Letter to John in History 100 Packet. Mr. Smith. Fall 2020.

In your bibliography you would only cite the course packet as a whole, it would look like the following:

Class Material. Teacher’s Name. Term Year.

  • Example: History 100 Packet. Mr. Smith. Fall 2020.
